DEYO became aware of the real-world impact of online scams after a close friend was targeted by a romance scam. Recognizing the social engineering tactics being used, and frustrated by how difficult it was to intervene, he began actively engaging with scammers to better understand their methods and disrupt their operations.

What started as informal experimentation quickly gained attention when his interactions with scammers produced strong reactions, highlighting just how effective exposure and disruption could be. From there, his work has evolved into a more focused effort to confront scammers, raise awareness, and advocate for victims. Online fraud investigations have become a part of the process to protect as many victims as he can.

DEYO voices various characters from all over the world while using a unique improv comedy approach. Some of his characters are more realistic, while others are more outlandish and exaggerated. His goal is to bait the scammers by wasting their time by pretending to be a potential victim, gather intel to report to law enforcement and help victims where possible. 

In 2022, 2023 and 2025 DEYO also participated in “The People’s Call Center” which gathered scam busters from all over the world to fight back against scammers.

Today, DEYO is committed to building collaborative relationships across the anti-scam space, working alongside fellow creators, victim advocacy groups, law enforcement, and telecommunications providers.
